ANNOUNCEMENT: RESULTS OF THE IDEAS BOARD ELECTIONS - 14 May 2008
The IDEAS Election Committee of 2008 is pleased to announce the results of the IDEAS Board Elections, which closed on 5th May 2008. The candidates standing for election were:
Doha Abdelhamid (Egypt): Senior Policy Advisor, Government of Egypt
Rashmi Agrawal (India): Chief, Institute of Applied Manpower Research, New Delhi, India
Michel Dognon (Benin): Senior Program Examiner, New York State Office of the State Comptroller, Albany, NY
Florence Etta (Kenya): Trainer / Facilitator, UNIFEM New York Project
Velayuthan Sivagnanasothy (Sri Lanka): Director General, Dept of Foreign Aid and Budget Monitoring, Sri Lanka. IDEAS was very privileged to have candidates of this calibre offer themselves for election: all are very well known names in the field of Monitoring and Evaluation.
We required two candidates to be elected, and the successful candidates were:
Doha Abdelhamid and Florence Etta.
156 valid votes were received from 80 members (4 members chose to vote for just one candidate). Votes were as follows:
Doha Abdelhamid 43
Florence Etta 36
Rashmi Agrawal 29
Michel Dognon 26
Velayuthan Sivagnanasothy 22
In addition, there were 4 invalid votes.
The Election Committee congratulates Doha and Florence on their success, and looks forward to serving with them to further IDEAS’ objectives. Doha has already served a 3-year term on the Board, and has been re-elected for a further term.
The committee would like to thank the unsuccessful candidates for their interest and commitment in agreeing to stand for election, and also our outgoing Board Member, Edward Mukooyo, for his service to our association over the past three years. 17% of our members participated in the Board election process, and in this way helped to ensure that we have an effective and representative board to serve IDEAS.
