Sri Lanka holds National Workshop for Strengthening Results-Based Monitoring and - 11 April 2007

The Government of Sri Lanka, and in particular the Ministry of Plan
Implementation there, has taken the lead in organising a 3 day National Workshop in Colombo from 3 - 5th April 2007 on "Strengthening Results-based Monitoring and Evaluation".

Over 160 Senior Officials participated in the workshop, with Dr. Ray Rist, Advisor to the World Bank on M&E, acting as the key resource person.

The Government recognises that continuous training on M&E is an important
step in sustaining the RBM initiatives. The Secretary: Ministry of Plan
Implementation, Mrs. Dhara Wijayatillake, gave the opening address. She
emphasised on the importance of Results-based Monitoring and Evaluation, and stressed the need to establish an evaluation culture in the country.
